Planning Appeal Won!

Following the shock refusal of permission for a non-controversial single-storey side and rear extension in Willow Park, Haywards Heath, we were pleased to have the decision recently overturned by the Planning Inspectorate.

The householder appeal service which has been set up by the Planning Inspectorate to make domestic appeals faster and more straightforward usually results in a decision within six weeks of lodging the appeal.  In this case, the inspector found that, contrary to Mid Sussex District Council’s reasoning, the proposal would not in fact be “incongruous and overbearing in the streetscene and…  …harmful to the character of the area” and by issuing his judgement has granted consent for the original scheme.

Work on the project now continues apace, with drawings and documents prepared for Building Regulations and tender purposes.  Our client hopes to start on site in the coming weeks.
