Contemporary extension and whole house refurbishment

Thornhurst

Folders Lane, Burgess Hill

Dwell has exploited the corner plot of this recently constructed house to form a fantastic new open-plan kitchen and family room maximising views into the garden and to lakes beyond.

Default Gallery Type Template

This is the default gallery type template, located in:

If you're seeing this, it's because the gallery type you selected has not provided a template of it's own.

This recent developer home lacked the facilities and finish required by its new owners and failed to take advantage of its unique position.  Dwell responded with a bespoke design and construction programme to address these shortcomings.

A glazed family room engages with the corner of the new open-plan kitchen to provide panoramic views into the garden and to the private lakes beyond. Bifold doors to two sides allow the room to be opened up to the garden, for a true inside-outside feeling.  The original roofline was extended using a traditional ‘catslide’ with inset balcony anchoring the contemporary  element.   The sedum eco roof, super efficient insulation and automated blinds moderate the internal temperature, allowing comfortable use throughout the year.

Complete internal remodelling included new bathrooms, dressing rooms and installation of underfloor heating.  New low-energy lighting, entertainment, and home control systems helped bring the dwelling completely up-to-date.  Dwell’s involvement included bespoke furniture to bedrooms, bathrooms and living rooms.
